Fast XML to JSON & JSON to XML Converter
Client DOMParserTransform hierarchical XML documents into modern JSON payloads with attribute preservation, CDATA handling, and type coercion. Conversions execute 100% locally in your browser.
100% Client-Side Privacy
Every XML parsing and JSON transformation executes strictly inside your browser via native DOMParser Web APIs. Zero network requests are sent and zero bytes ever leave your device.
Attributes & CDATA Handling
Preserves XML tag attributes seamlessly using industry-standard @_ or @ prefixes. Unescapes and preserves raw CDATA sections without double-escaping HTML or special characters.
Sub-Millisecond Engine
Equipped with non-blocking debounce scheduling, virtualized tree node rendering, recursive depth guards, and instant bidirectional conversion between XML and JSON.
Architectural Guide: Converting Hierarchical XML into Modern JSON
Deep dive into schema differences, attribute preservation strategies, and CDATA representation.
1. How Attributes are Preserved in JSON Objects
In standard XML, elements can contain both child elements and tag attributes (such as <product id="101" inStock="true">). Because JSON does not have a native concept of tag attributes, modern conventions prefix attribute names with @_ or @.
When an element contains both attributes and inner text (e.g. <price currency="USD">29.99</price>), the text content is mapped to a dedicated key like #text, ensuring zero data loss during round-trip conversions.
2. Handling CDATA Sections vs XML Entities
XML documents frequently wrap HTML markup, code blocks, or arbitrary text inside <![CDATA[ ... ]]> sections to prevent XML parsers from treating characters like < and & as markup delimiters.
Our converter detects CDATA sections natively and offers two modes: extracting the contents directly into clean JSON string fields, or preserving a structured wrapper object { "#cdata": "..." } for flawless XML reconstruction.
3. Converting Arrays and Repeated Sibling Tags
In XML, lists are represented as repeated sibling tags under a parent element:<tags><tag>hardware</tag><tag>rgb</tag></tags>Our engine automatically collapses multiple siblings with identical tag names into JSON arrays:"tags": { "tag": ["hardware", "rgb"] }
4. Why In-Browser Client-Side Processing Matters
XML files often contain proprietary API contracts, SOAP credentials, financial transaction logs, or confidential product inventories.
By executing all parsing strictly in your browser using native Web APIs (such as DOMParser), zero data is transmitted over the wire, guaranteeing total privacy and complete compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and enterprise security policies.
