SVG Path (d attribute) Command Quick Reference & Cheat Sheet

M / m (MoveTo)

Establishes a new current point without drawing. Uppercase M x y specifies absolute coordinates, while lowercase m dx dy specifies relative offsets.

L / H / V (LineTo)

Draws straight lines: L x y for arbitrary line, H x for strictly horizontal lines, and V y for vertical straight lines.

C / S (Cubic Bézier)

Smooth cubic curves. C x1 y1 x2 y2 x y uses two control points. S x2 y2 x y automatically reflects the first control point for continuous C2 curvature.

Q / T (Quadratic Bézier)

Parabolic curve with one control handle: Q x1 y1 x y. Smooth quadratic T x y mirrors the previous control point.

A / a (Elliptical Arc)

A rx ry x-axis-rotation large-arc-flag sweep-flag x y. Draws an elliptical segment between the current point and (x, y) based on radii and angles.

Z / z (ClosePath)

Connects a straight line from current point back to the initial subpath coordinate established by the preceding M command, sealing the shape.

Case Sensitivity

Uppercase characters (e.g., M, L, C) denote absolute canvas coordinates. Lowercase characters (e.g., m, l, c) calculate relative to previous point.

Privacy Guarantee
